In the following post I will just mention some words that one may hear or read nowadays in a campus where Astrophysics is alive …:
DETECTOR VIRGO. You may have heard about detector LIGO in the USA that discovered gravitational waves. Well now there is too VIRGO near Pisa. I have read too that the gravitational waves discovery was very important but too what was discovered creating these waves.

COSMIC INFLATION. Guth 1981. Keep his name. Last year there was a big controversy as some scientists seemed to put “in disrespect” this theory. Then they received a letter from 33 scientists supporting the inflationary theory. In that letter you could read the names of Guth, Linde, Hawking ot Weinberg. Once 33 scientists wrote against Einstein theory and Einstein said that if he was wrong it would suffice one scientist to say so. I wonder if now something like that could be said …Here you read words like CMB, COBE, PLANCK telescope, ANISOTROPY. That map where you can see the temperature of the Cosmic Microvave Background is something really very important in all this.
MODEL ACDM? Not quite. It is lambda instead of a A but I did not know how to write here that constant. DM refers to dark matter.
TELESCOPE SWIFT. To watch gamma ray, GRD. Tidal Disruption Events (TDE)
DSG or Deep Space Gateway. A NASA project where a station would move around the Moon.
FIRST SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLES. There is a lot of talk about the JAMES WEBB space telescope! Keep in mind the name of this telescope! I have read about it in different places. And in the radio too. It is amazing what it will imply. Sadly there is delay. It will have to open itself in the space. In a Lagrangian I think so that it won’t be like Hubble nearby! No repair option! The image of the telescope structure is quite singular! MIRI and NIRCam will be instruments it will have to see the infrared.
VIOLENT UNIVERSE. Sometimes you read violent universe in magazines or even in the names of course online. It refers to not thermal processes, with a relatively variety and with very energetic radiation! rays X or rays gamma. Imagine the explosion of a supernovae,pulsar emissions or the dynamics of accretion of matter into a black hole!
FERMI space telescope .Live since 2008. It tracks gamma rays. It sounds curious how it detects these photons. Amazing how it can distinguish from Cosmic rays and how it was improved some years ago. Positrons mentioned in the details of how FERMI works.
CHERENKOV telescopes on Earth. Sincrotron radiation inverse Compton effect. As far as I understand it they use the atmosphere where there are flashes. Sometimes I see flashes in the sky. Those ones??
BLAZER. A kind of Cosmic lighthouse. These are black holes that happen to “blaze” just in the direction of planet Earth! There are a lot of imaginary pictores on this in illustrations by artists. FERMI, Fermi-LAT, 2FHL, 3 FHL.
AXIONIC DARK MATTER. There are different pretenders to be dark matter.. This is one.
VIRTUAL TELESCOPES. For example CANYVAL-X. As far as i understand they are made from different instruments in outer space that have to be at a distance.
QUANTUM GRAVITY. Well, well, well, A lot of this is written but sometimes it seems to no avail as no crystal clear solutions I see!. There is STRING THEORY, etc etc.
QUANTUM MULTIVERSE. Here I am a bit confused. As far as I know from the inflationary model there would be a multiverse (A VERY WEIRD THING. I think Stephen Hawking refer to this when he said that a singer from One Direction would still be part of the band in another universe!) It is as if lots of worlds from quantum theory (or is it quantum mechanics??) and multiverse may be the same. Hugh Everett mentioned.
QUANTUM MECHANICS.I read a lot about this. I see quite oft the name of Steven Weinberg.
ICECUBE. it is in Antarctica and I see it mentioned with connection to LIGO in the US and VIRGO near Pisa in Italy.
CHILE TELESCOPES. Here I just wanted to mention that Chile (the Andes I think) are very oft mentioned.ALMA is mentioned, for example. Let’s remember that in order to watch the sky, the whole sky, you need telescopes in both hemispheres.
DARK ENERGY. Since 1998 we know the Universe is accelerating. As Gravity would do otherwise there must be maybe something call DARK ENERGY that is responsible for this repulsion. To know what is going on … there is, for example, DES or DARK ENERGY SURVEY. Mentioned a lot. It is creating a cartographic map of milions of galaxies. it used filters of different colors. Cerro Tololo in Chile is the place of the telescopes. There is a DECam with 570 megapixels. In the northern hemisphere there is the Javalambre telescope in Teruel, Spain, what it is more recent.
TESS.it is going to be a satellite to watch for exoplanets.
LIFE ON EARTH AND THE COPERNICAN MEDIOCRITY. GRB or gamma ray bursts would be not good for life as we know it. This may imply that inside the Milky Way the stars closer to the center of our galaxy -well, their exoplanets – would not be good for life as gamma rays would be too dangerous. And to have near too many small galaxies would not make life any good . So maybe we are not so so ordinary as Carl Sagan imagined …
DUNE experiment with neutrinos.
STARCHIPS to ALPHA CENTAURI. Yuri Milner idea. Sending very small objects to ALPHA CENTAURI through little starchips. One of the most amazing things i have read. I like the idea of sending small things to space! This is what i have always thought the best!
PRIMORDIAL BLACK HOLES. I thought that back holes were just something theoretical related to Stephen Hawking but I read a lot about black holes here and there! In any case, could primordial black holes be the dark matter? You may read here about MACHO!
QUANTUM THEORY AND QUANTUM MECHANICS. Do you know the difference’ Let me say that when we speak about Schrödinger Equation we are talking about quantum mechanics.
TABBY STAR. The news was so popular some months ago that I even knew about that just reading any newspaper! I even remember to have gone to bed thinking what it may be. EXTRATERRESTRIAL life? I wonder if there is now some updates. Its light changes but in a weird way. There are known cases where light of a star changes like in the case of an exoplanet passing in front of the star but in the Tabby start the pattern is different. Maybe an extraterrestrial construction between the star and us? It was found by the KEPLER telescope that is looking for exoplanets.

SCHRODINGER THE CAT
